WOMAN TREATED LENIENTLY Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. In thanking 1 the magistrate for leniency a woman shop-lifter broke into tears to-day when convicted and discharged for stealing gramophone records, which she said were to amuse her children. The magistrate said his practice was to send such offenders to gaol, but he would be lenient in this case as a child was expected and he said, “As far as I am concerned it, at least, will be given a fair start.” The name of the woman was supyressecL
