REV. E. LIONEL HARVIE A farewell gathering of parishioners in honour of the Rev. E. Lionel Harvie, who has been vicar of St. Andrew’s, Epsom, for nearly eight years, and is to take charge of St. Andrew’s, Cambridge, was held in the parish hall last evening. The people’s warden, Mr. H. Frost, presided, and among those present were Archbishop Averill, Archdeacon Mac Murray, and Mr. V. H. Potter, M.P. On behalf of the parishioners the chairman presented Mr. Harvie with a well-filled wallet of bank-notes. The Boys’ Bible Class and Young People’s Club presented Mr. Harvie with a smoker’s cabinet. In expressing his regret at the loss of Mr. Harvie’s services to the Auckland diocese, Archbishop Averill said he Jiad very much valued Mr. Harvie’s loyal support to himself during the past 14 years.

In reply, Mr. Harvie expressed his gratitude for the many kindnesses he had received from his parishioners, kindnesses which had culminated in their generous gifts. A musical programme was contributed to by Miss Gibson and Messrs. W. J. Meredith, J. D. Swann, A. Charles and T. T. Garland.
