ALCOHOLIC VICTIM
63 TIMES IN COURT METHYLATED SPIRITS ADDICT' “I was drunk. I didn’t know where I was.” The remark referred to last night. It is to be hoped that Ernest Cox knew where he was yesterday, for it happened to be the dock at the Police Court. Constable Yeoward found him fast asleep in the Union Steam Ship Company’s sheds on the Western Wharf about 11 o’clock last night, with a bottle of methylated spirit clasped to his bosom. Senior-Sergeant Edwards mentioned tha-fc- t*his was Cox’s 63rd bow to the Bench—the number exceeds his age by 20. He’d been to Rotoroa and had “done” seven days for theft last month following on a fortnight’s sentence on another drunk charge. “A month,” was Cox’s share of the good things dispensed by the Alagistrate, Air. Hunt.
