Woman's Fatal Fall. —At the inquest on Martha Cronin, who fell vesterday through a skylight of Barrett’s Hotel, Wellington, a verdict of accidental death was returned. Electricity Instead of Steam, —The Whakatu Freezing Works have changed over from steam to electricity from the Mangahaa plant. The change cost £6,000, says a Press Association message from Hastings. Pension for Old Crickete’'.—'The affairs of the veteran cricketer, Robert Abel, have been settled satisfactorily. An annuity has been purchased for him and the Surrey County Committee has added a pension that will enable him to live in comfort. —A. and N.Z. Absentees from Commons.—A bill i introduced by seven Labour members }of the House of Commons has obvij ously been designed to meet the case lof Captain Gee. The bill, if passed, i will render vacant any seat in the House from which a member has been absent for 12 months without special leave. —A. and N.Z. Unemployed Meeting.—The Auckland Unemployment Organisation will hold a mass meeting of the unemployed in Quay Street East at 3 p.m. to-morrow afternoon. Several prominent speakers have been asked to speak on means of coping with the unemployment problem during the coming winter.
