RIFLE SHOOTING
HASLAM SHIELD AUCKLAND ’VARSITY’S SHOWING The Auckland University team fired in competition for the Hasiani Shield under squally weather conditions at the Penrose range this morning. The Haslam Shield, an inter-’Varsity trophy, is shot for each year, each ’Varsity team shooting in its own centre. A strong right wind, together with varying light, and rain showers, made conditions generally somewhat trying. The practices were as follows: Five rounds, application, at 200 yards; five rounds, snap-shooting, with exposures of 4sec. each; 10 rounds rapid at 300 yards, in 50sec.; seven rounds, application at 500 yards.
