BUILDING ACTIVITIES
WORK AT PAPATOETOE That Papatoetoe has not been affected as badly as some parts of the country with the building slump is evinced by the annual returns just completed *by the Papatoetoe Town Board. For the twelve months concluding March 31, there were 57 permits granted for the erection of new buildings to the value of £40,635, and one permit for shops valued £1,080; for alterations to dwellings 11 permits were granted valued at £1,653. making an aggregate of 69 permits to the value of £43,368, compared with the year ending March, 1925, when the totals for that year were 78 permits valued at £ 43.356, so with a deficiency of £lB Papatoetoe has held its own very well during the slack period.
