Day Bell and Passin’ Through were under a pull to comfortably defeat Tom Moore in a bout over a round. Tom Moore was chased along most of the way, but finished a couple of lengths behind the other pair. Both Day Bell and Passin’ Through have been putting in good work, and should Strip fit for coming jumping events. Town Guard, who was showing signs of an enlarged knee, due to sustaining a knock, is having easy work meted out to him. A Whangarei Winner. The racing she had at Whangarei does not appear to have affected Charlady, and she is bowling along freely in her work. Charlady is speedy, seven and eight furlongs appearing to be her pet distances, despite the fact that she won over six furlongs at Whangarei. The English-bred Rosenor is putting in plenty of work, and is gradually getting into racing trim. The soft tracks should be to Rosenor’s liking. Effects of a Hard Race. The much-improved Respirator has lightened up with the hard race he had at Whangarei, but should be back to his old form for the Easter meeting. When last seen out, and while being led in company with another. Master Noel sustained two severe kicks, and was showing signs of lameness. However, the injuries are not serious, and he should be his old self again in a day or so. Not Yet Ready. Double Mint and Lord Swift are rounding into shape, though some time will elapse before they are seen at their best. C. NJoore will pilot Edifice in his jumping engagements, and A. McGregor will have the mount on Bahadur, at the forthcoming Auckland meeting. S. Henderson will most likely # ride Beau Cavalier, and A. H. Bust will be on Passin’ Through.
