SAFE-BLOWERS
BUSY AT NEW LYNN INTERRUPTED ROBBERS POST OFFICE AND STATION Some time last night a determined attempt was made to rob the New Lynn Post Office and Railway Station. The safe in the post office was blown up, but it is thought that the intruders were disturbed and made off before they could complete their scheme. As far as is known nothing was taken from either the post office or railway station. Entrance was gained to both buildings by breaking the windows open. The discovery was made by the police early this morning. Evidently the burglars thought that they would make a good haul and decamp with the money which had been taken for the registration of motorcars, but; this money was not in the post office. It had been placed elsewhere. Had the safe been blown open all the intruders would have found was 18s in copper. No other damage has been done to the post office. The front casing of the safe was blown off, but the inner part was intact.
