BETTER THAN PROMISED

BEAM-WIRELESS TESTS HIGH-SPEED SERVICE By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright (Received 5.15 a.m.) LONDON, Wednesday. The official result of the beam wireless tests to Australia state that effective both-way communication in terms of the contract was maintained for 88 i hours in a week. Marconi’s Ltd., and the contract required only 49 hours communication. The SBJ hours working referred only to the duplex working at speeds over 500 letters a minute. If the additional hours were included when one end was sending at high speed while the other was sending at a lower speed were counted together, there would have been considerable traffic. This effective commercial communication covered a much longer period than Marconi messages, and the stations demonstrated that they were capable of dealing with 150,000 words daily both ways, up to speeds of 325 words a minute.—“Sun.”
