PLUNKET SHIELD
ARRIVES AT LAST FREIGHT ON DELIVERY i Labelled “charges collect” the Plunket Shield has arrived at last. At last night’s meeting o£ the Auckland Cricket Association a letter was received from the New Zealand Cricket Council expressing surprise that Wellington had not forwarded the shield and advising that the association had instructed the southern centre to do so without further delay. The chairman, Mr. I>. V. Moore, stated that probably as a result of the New Zealand Council’s action in the matter the shield had eventually arrived. The freight charges from Wellington, however, had been made payable on delivery. Probably the best thing to do would be to debit the amount to the New Zealand Council. Mr. J. W. Bennett: Wellington should have brought the shield with them when they toured. Charge it back to them. Instead of agreeing to that course of action it was resolved to charge the item to the New Zealand Cricket Council. Obtaining possession of the Piunket Shield nowadays is no easy matter.
