SALESMAN FINED.

Failure To Pay Unemployment Levies. FOUR QUARTERS DUE A charge of failing to pay unemployment levies was brought against William Whalley in the Stratford Magistrate’s Court this morning. Whalley was convicted and fined 10/-, costs 10/-, by Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M. Defendant did not appear. Sergeant C. M. Anniss said the matter had been before the Labour Department since last year. No levy had been paid since August, 1935. Whalley was employed as a salesman by a Stratford motor firm. Mr. C. P. Smith, of the Labour Department ,said he understood that the August, 1935, and subsequent instalments had not paid. The last communication from Whalley had been received by the Labour Department in May last, when he sent 10/-.
