WASHING HINTS
If fancy coloured prints and silks are steeped in cold water containing' salt before they are washed they will he far leas likely to run. Use pure' .soap flakes and no soda on any account. Brightly coloured materials should he kneaded gently in the water and never rubbed hard. Artificial silk proves a difficulty to many l women. The secret is to have the water very' tepid and not to squeeze or pull when rinsing. Dry very carefully. The best way is to pin the garment on to a strong paper, lay ora table and leave it to dry slowly in a warm place. Washable suede gloves are also very easily ruined unless the greatest care is taken with them. Some people will tell you to rinse every scrap of soap out of them am'j others to leave it all in. The correct method is to rinse off all the dirty so p after washing the gloves, then rub in fresh, clean soap and leave it in. Let them dry in a current of air.
