FLOOD DAMAGE.

REPAIRS TO CARDIFF DAM. Good progress is being made with: the work on the Cardiff Dairy Com-, panys' dam in the Waingongoro Rivsv. j Another week without heavy rain should see the more important part of the work completed. As a result of two phenomenal floods the dam was in serious danger of becoming a total loss to the company, and it has been necessary to erect another but smaller dam some yards below the main dam to form a water cushion and prevent scouring. The work is rather a big and expensive undertaking for the company, but on its completion should ensure tho safety of the dam for many years.
