Mrs Kofoed presided over a good attendance at .the monthly meeting- on Wednesday. Tjie secretarial dirties were undertaken by Miss Coleman In the absence of Miss Watkins and Mrs Lithgow. Letters of sympathy are to be sent to Miss Watkins and Mrs Dick. A vote of thanks was expressed to Mr and Mrs A. B. Walker for the use of their garden for a garden party. Mrs Harre presented a splendid report on the Hawera Council- A very interesting and instructive demonstration on the making, of dress models was given by Mr's Smith/Eltham, and Mrs Fowler, TeTtoti. They were accorded a vote of .thanks. After some discussion it was decided to celebrate the institute's third birthday by holding a picnic on the last Wednesday in Jan uary. The December meeting will be in the hands of the junior members. The competition for the points prize was for the best patch on tweed, and the judges, Mesdam6s Smith and Fowler, made the following selection from a good entry; Mrs N. Coleman 1,. Mrs and Miss Pederson equal 2,' Mrs U. Arthur 3. An amusing game of musical stick wag won by Mrs Verney. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Brett, N. Coleman, Jackson and Miss Coleman .
