A pretty wedding took place on ,' Wednesday, November 22. at St. An- j drew's Church, Stratford, when Ail- j ecu Naomi, second daughter of Mr. j and Mrs. A. A. Piper, Lowgarth, j Stratford, was married to Arthur j Herbert, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. { J. J. Gray, Bell Block. j The Rev. J. McGregor performed ' the, ceremony and Mrs. Lilley render- , cd the wedding march. | The bride entered the- church es_ j corfed by her father. She was wearing a .slim fitting sown of white satin, j which fitted closely to the knees, then, j flared to the shoe tops. Her beautiful j
lace veil was caught, closely to the ] head by orange blossoms and fell to j form a train. A single strand of pearls- and a sheaf of lilies completed her toilette. ! The bride, was attended by the j Misses Velma Cuff. June and Shirley j Piper (sisters), who wore ankle length j frilled floral organdie frocks of apri_ cot, lemon and mauve respectively. ' The shoulders were finished by j large collars and the fashionable puffed sleeves were, worn. They all wore wool chenille berets to tone and j necklets, the gift of the bridegroom, j The elder girls carried bouquets of Iceland poppies, while Shirley carried j a Victorian posy. Mr. R. Gulliver (Auckland) attend- j Gd as best man and Mr. R. Scott, j (Eltham) was the groomsman. j Following the ceremony Mr -and Mrs. Piper received their guests at | the Windsor Tea Rooms, where the usual toasts were honoured. The bride's mother received her guests j wearing a frock of figured brown silk morocain with coatee, and brown straw hat. The bridegroom's mother j wore black satin beaute with bat to match and both carried posies. I All the bouquet* and posies were, the j work and gifts- of Mrs. W|. Wickham. (Bird Road) and Mrs. Reg Smith (Cardiff) and were much admired. In the evening the parents of the j bride entertained a large number of . friends in Lowgarth Hall, when the j young couple were present to receive | the good wishes of the guests. Later j in the evening they left by car, the bride travelling in a royal blue crinkly crepe frock, with hat and coat to j match. Their future home will be in Auckland.
