Gordon, a passenger in a car which collided with a train on the Kamo Road level crossing on August 2, a verdict was returned at the inquest that her subsequent death in hospital was due to a fracture of the skull and laceration of the brain.
The car driver, Mr. Warwick Ruysdael Claris, a farmer of Mama, and brother of the deceased, lias been charged with manslaughter, in that, by negligent driving, he caused the death of Mrs Gordon. He pleaded not guilty and was committed by two Justices of the Peace for trial at the Supreme Court at. Auckland. Bail was fixed at £IOO.
