CARDIFF NOTES

SURPRISE PARTY A surprise party on Saturday night was given to Mr A. Bennett on his attaining the ago of 21. The party was held at his home when 34 people wore present. On behalf of those present, Mr P. Mar chant presented Mr Bennett with a set of brushes and a comb in a leather case. A very jolly evening was spent with games, community singing and euchre. Mr P. Marchant and Miss E. Cameron were thei accompanists for the singing. The prize-winners at cards were Mrs J. Richards and Mr R. Andrews, Avhile Mr R. Richards gained the consolation prize. Personal Mrs Paton and Miss Jean Paton are the guests of Mrs C. Carley. Mr and Miss Manley are thei guests of Mrs L. Wickham, Mr Wallace Brunton, who was operated on recently for appendicitis, is progressing satisfactorily. Football Club Ball A very successful ball, sponsored by the Cardiff Football Club, was held in the Cardiff hall off Tuesday night. The attendance was the largest for j some time. The masters of. ceremonies I Were Messrs P. Horn, R. Smith and A. Bennett. Supper arrangements : were in the hands of the ladies, under ■the direction of Mrs-Hoskin. Mtlsic ! was' supplied by Vinson’s Ambassadors Orchestra.' Mr Limmer, the club president, presented the cups.' E. Baddington was the winner of the cup for the most improved player, while A. Lehmann received the cup for the fittest player.
