Settling of Indian Reservists in Northern Territory
“Keeping Area British More Important Than a White Australia”
Grave Danger to the North in Event of War Prpss Association —Copyright. Received Today, 10 a.m. Sydney, Today. Rev. James Green, a Methodist minister of wide wartime experience, advocates a scheme of settling Sikh ami Rajput Indian Army reservists on Northern Territory areas. This plan would help to keep Australia British, which is more important than a white Australia. If war came the danger in the north would be undeniable and it would ho futile for churchmen to spread their hands in horror after foreign relations were ruptured. “The Sikhs and Rajputs are fine men,” ho said, “whose presence in the territory would he valuable.”
