The annual report, of the WHlingj ton Education Hoard states that at I the end of the year 239 schools were | open against 242 the previous year. ! The average roll for 1932 was 27,705, against 28,388 and the average atteu- ! darco 25,897, or 93.47 per cent., the j hi; \ sst ever attained in the Wellingj ton district. The figures show the I raising of the minimum entrance age | to six years had a far less serious j effect, than anticipated, and as a re- | suit of the improvement in the reguj larity of attendance, particularly durj ing the last term nearly all schools | have been ablo to retain their full teaching staffs.
