Ashburton, Juno 9,

A case of interest to friendly society doctors and chemists was heard to-day when the manager of the Ashburton United Friendly Societies’ Dispensary was fined £2 for failing to enter in a register dangerous drugs sold, dispensed or distributed by him.

Defending counsel said in the majority of cases the details were entered properlyj but as the prescription books issued by lodges were the members’ own property the original prescription could not be kept for a year, as was required by the Act. Doctors would have to supply their prescriptions on separate forms.

The director of artillery, Colonel F. Symon, left by the Wanganella yesterday for Australia for the purpose of inspecting munition factories and gaining information as to the scope of the Australian Government’s activities in the manufacture of military material generally.
