PUMPS LOCKED
A Petrol Difficulty
RE-SELLER’S ACTION
Motor car owners accustomed to buying a certain brand of motor spirit have been astonished when, during the last few days, they have been unable to get supplies from any but a very few petrol stations. That brand just was not on sale—the pumps wore locked, and nobody could say when they would be unlocked.
What happened was that a large motor agency and repairing establishment in Wellington proposed to install several now pumps, but the resellers objected strongly, arguing that their arrangement ■with the particular company provided that no more pumps should be installed in a specified area. The motor company and the oil company had quite other ideas, and a start was made for the placing of the pumps. The resellers then decided upon action, to force the position, by locking the pumps of the' particular company and selling not a fluid ounce of its brand of petrol, first or second grade. The installation of pumps is proceeding according to plan, and the boycott also proceeds, but weakened by the opening of one or two locks. The feeling over the position is apparently rather warm.
