SALE OF POISON

Bottle Not Distinctly Labelled CHEMIST FINED Press Association —Copyright Dunedin, May 12 William Michael Wilkinson, chemist, was fined £2 and costs for selling strychnine in a bottle not distinctly labelled, the police stated that a voluntary patient at the Seacliff Mental Hospital was found suffering from the effects of poison. A bottle almost full of strychnine was found in his possession. Wilkinson admitted the sale, stating that the man was recommended by another. He produced records showing that he had entered the transaction, but the name of the purchaser was fictitious. Counsel said Wilkinson was ignorant of the fact that the man was a mental patient. He said he-was a farmer and wanted the strychnine to kill rats.
