LOWGARTH
A very successful euchre party and dance and social, the proceeds of which are to go to augment the funds of the Eltham Anglican Church, was organised by Mr. R. Short, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. F. Willan. There were about 80 people present, the winners of the euchre being: Ladies, Mrs. D. Shannon (Cardiff) 1, Miss'M. Jones 2; men, Mr. R. Jones 1, Mr. W. Bond 2. After supper a party of visiting artists, comprising Misses Mehrtens and Langstone, also Messrs. P. Silver, Liiuie.i, Whiting and Parker, all contributed songs, which were much appreciated and encored heartily. At the close of the concert programme Mr. A. Short briefly returned thanks to the visitors and all present who had helped to make the function the success it was. As secretary of the vestry, Mr. Linnell also thanked one and all for the fine response the church had received. Dancing was then indulged in, Mrs. A. A. Piper supplying the music. Mr. Hooker played an extra, also Ivliss G. Silver and Mr. D. Silver. Mr. A. Willan was M.C. Persona! Mr. J. A. Adams has returned after a week spent at Massey College.
