OBITUARY

SIR HENRY ROYCE Press Association —Copyright Loudon, April 25. —The death has occurred of Sir Henry Royce, engineer, aged 70. The name of Royce is famous in the automobile and aviation world. Sir Henry Royce was a director and chief engineer of Rolls-Royce Ltd. He was apprenticed to engineering at tho Great Northern Railway, worked at gun machinery in Leeds, and was a pioneer of the lighting of London and Liverpool streets with electricity. In 1884 ho founded Royce Ltd., mechanical and electrical engineers, Manchester, who in 1907 were joint founders with tho Hon. C. S. Rolls of Rolls-Royce Ltd., motor car and aero engine builders, of Derby and London.
