VERDICT OF NOT GUILTY
CHRISTCHURCH TRAM STRIKE SEQUEL DEATH OF CONDUCTOR Press Association.— Copyright. CHRISTCHURCH, To-day.—At the Supreme Court, James Duncan Burke, was charged on two counts with killing William Henry Victor Laing, a tram conductor, on May 7, or with assaulting Laing. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty. This case was a sequel to the tram strike disturbance.
