NO PROSPECT OF RESTORATION " AT END OF YEAR Press’ ’ Assodratiom—Copyright. CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. There is no prospect of the first cut of 10 per cent, in the salaries of the civil servants being restored at the end of -the year. This was made clear, by the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, Prime Minister, in an interview. “No cuts will be removed,’’ said Mr. Forbes. “The position is more difficult today than when the first cut was made. A good deal of mis- j conception regarding ithe position | exists .among Government' officers, j many of whom believe that the legislation imposing the first cut of 'lOi per ceht." expires On December 31 j next. Thosb, Who Hold' this view have j made a mistake in their interpretation of; the Act. There is -no- time I limit fixed to the section of the Act dealing 1 with the salaries of civil servants.” I
