RIM OF FRONT WHEEL CAME OFF BROKEN NECk; INSTANTANEOUS DEATH Press Association.—Copyright. WAIPUKURAU, This Day. Arthur McDonald Snelling, aged 24, single, a stock agent, was killed instantly on the Tamumu-Patangata Road on Saturday evening. Deceased, with a friend, George Winlove, was driving a high-powered car, and when rounding a corner came suddenly on a mob of sheep. Winlove, who was driving, applied the brakes when the tyre rim of the front right wheel came off. The car swerved towards the bank, striking a deep wash-out and overturning on its side.

Winlove was thrown clear, but Snelling was pinned by the hood of the car, sustaining a dislocated neck. An inquest will be held on Wednesday. Deceased was a son of Thomas Snelling, of Makohuku, and was one of the most popular young men in Waipukurau and district. He was a Rugby foftballer and an all-round athlete.
