A charge of being an incorrigible rogue was preferred against Frank Thompson, alias Cyril Langmaid, alias Cecil Langmaid, at a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Wauagnui yesterday afternoon. Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., presided. The accused pleaded guilty. Evidence was given by Detective J. Walsh that the accused had a lengthy criminal record. Thompson told the magistrate that he was doing his best to go straight. In sentencing Thompson to 12 months’ hard labour, the Magistrate disregarded Thompson’s statement about his effort to go straight, saying that At was nonsense.
