ritIEKDLY SOCIETY’S PROTEST, WANGANUI, October 13. At a special general meeting of tiie United Friendly Society’s Association, held in Wanganui on Saturday nigtu, the president outlined the history of the association, and of its negotiation's with the WaugaUnited Friendly Society’s Association nui Hospital Board. Friendly societies’ delegates were present from ■Taiihape, Martoh, Mangaweka, and the surrounding districts, and two members of the Wanganui Hospital Board, Mrs Siddells and Mr W. J. Rogers. It was shown that the association could not meet the demanded by the board without cither increasing the contributions or reducing the benefits. The following resolution was carried: “That until such time as an agreement can be arrived at with the Wanganui Hospital Board, the association pay the members direct a sum equal to 40 per cent, of all accounts incurred with the Wanganui Hospital Board in respect to treatment which would have been covered by the last’ agreement with the board. Also that the association contribute toward accounts incurred in private hospitals outside the Wanganui Hospital Board district as in the past.” A deputation was appointed to weit on the Hospital Board at its next meeting to continue negotiations.
