DEVELOPING IMPERIAL TRADE. MEETING OF HEADS OF ' DELEGATIONS. (Received 8.40 a.m.) LONDON, October 9. The heads of the Imperial Conference delegations met, Mr. Snowden was present, and spoke at length in connection with consideration of the Imperial trade development proposals. Another meeting will be held on Monday. DOMINIONS WILL CONCEDE NOTHING. WILL CONTINUE TO RAISE DUTIES. (Received 8.40 a.m.) LONDON, October 9. The Manchester Guardian, in an editorial, after referring to the businesslike vigour of • the speeches of Messrs, Scull in and Bennett, says that it is a case, as far as the Dominions are concerned, of conceding nothing. The paper forecasts that the Dominions will continue to raise duties, and comments: “That is no hardship to them —it is their way.” PAPER’S STORY OF DISCORD, DESCRIBED AS GROSSLY - INACCURATE. i (Received 10.10 a.m.l LONDON, Ootobe- 9. There was a full muster at midday of the Press at the Conference, assuming that probably there would have been some indication of Britain’s response to the Dominion overtures yesterday. The spokesmen gave no details n* to-day’s discussion, simply saying ihat the agenda contained various proposals for improving inter-imperial trade. These are now coming under review. It is reliably understood that Mm Thomas was present, also that there is not a solitary indication of Britain’s attitude to Messrs. Bennett and gcullin’s advocacy of improved preference. It is significant that the Conference in the morning devoted a full hour to discussion on Mr. Moloney’s suggestion to create a special committee to deal with wheat problems. One morning newspaper published a circumstantial story of certain discord at yesterday’s exchanges between Messrs. MacDonald and Bennett. The British spokesman dismissed the story as grossly inaccurate. He said the personal relations with the Prime Ministers could not possibly be warmer. '
