THE A VOX CLUB.
The report to be presented at
the anuual meeting of, the Avon Bowling Club on Friday evening i states that the revenue exceeded the expenditure by £53 3s lOd. Assets exceed liabilities by £487 12a 4d. The season, the report goes °» to say, ha|s been a very successful one in bowling, the club winning the Central Division competition at Inglewood. The play-off took'place in Stratford against Westend, Pih'ama and Hawera, The Club is to be congratulated on winning thre e games in the one day, and in once more bridging tho shield back
to Stratford. During the season friendly games: were played with Eltham, Hawera Park, "West End and and Stratford. These games proved most enjoyable. In the Club competitions tlrn championship was
won b v Mr b\ Weston, the "B" championship by Mr A. E. Whyte, and th e hand pairs by Mesisrs W. Leusdale and A. Clarke. In the New Year tournament the Club was represented hy three rinkjs, Mr P. Weston's ring reaching the ii'.ials, and the other two' rinks winning their sections. One rink represented the club at the open tournament at the Easter tournament at Hawera thre e rinks competed. Air P. Weston's reaching the semi-finals. Tile selectors carried out their duties in an unbiased manuer their selection undoubtedly being a factor in the winning of the Shield. The green has now been top-dress-ed, the hedges cut, and the garden dug up and cleaucd. To-day the property of the club is looking bet-
