BURGLARIES AT HAWERA.

\ BUSINESS PREMISES ENTERED. Four business premises and the Hawera Railway fetation were entered by burglars. ' The premises entered were Synie's j timber mill, the Farmers' Co-op. pro- : duce department and Messrs Hodder and Tolley's office. At these places as at the railway station the attempts were foiled by the safe and strong, room locks. At the Farmers.' Co-op. the marauder abstracted a coat and while Uiere made himself at home with the g|rocf}ry section, havjihg an anipJei meal. At least once the burglar was nearly caught. He was seen in Syme's mill by the night watchman at about 1.30 a.m., but before the lattei could get round to the office door the intruder had leaped from a window. He bad been apparently at work on the strong-room door with skeleton keys, a bunch of which was later found in the railway station.
