TWO STATE ELECTIONS EVEN BATTLE IN THE WEST PERTH, April 13. The State elections yesterday passed off quietly. One hundred and live candidates wont to the poll. The position at present is obscure owing to the redistribution. Mr Davy, Deputy Leader of the Opposition has been elected and the prospects are that the Labour and AntiLabour forces will each secure 25 seats. The unopposed returns included the Premier (Mr Collier) and eight other •Labourites, one Nationalist and one Country Party member. On the first count Miss May Holman is apparently re-elected for Forrest but Miss Bromham has again been defeated in Claremont. These were the only women candidates. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN CHANGE ADELAIDE, April 13. The South Australian election counts now show that Mr Macintosh (Com- | mission or of Work) retains his seat, which has been precarious, but Mr Jenkins (Minister of Local Government) has been defeated. Labour now has 30 seats, Liberals 1-, Country Party two, and two scats in Flinders arc still doubtful. The Butler ministry resigns on Monday and the Labour Party meets on • Wednesday to select a Cabinet.
