SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE’S DAY. With ideal weather and a splendid attendance of the public, People’s Day at the New Plymouth Show yesterday passed cff very successfully. Horse championships were allotted as follows: Draughts.—Entire champion: J. Barraclough’s (Eltham.) Ratonga; reserve, Townsend Bros.’ (Bel! Block) Epinard (imp.). Hack. —Champion, S'. Topless’ (Urenui) Silva Maid. Harness horse. —Champion, D. Collins (Stratford) Shamrock. Pony.—Miss Jean McAsey’is (Normanby) Blue Gown. Pony, harness —Champion, D. Collins’ (Stratford) Slippery Tom. In the classes for carriage horses and hacks Stratford district residents gained the following awards; Harness horse over 1-5.1 handls (to be shown and driven in harness): D. Collins 1 and champion. Harness horse 15.1 hands and under: T. Walker (Tuna) Playmate 1. Farmer’s light harness horse; D. Collins, Shamrock, 2.| Pony, 13 hands and up to 13.2 hands, to be ridden by boy or girl under 15, D. Collins, Nellie, 1. Pony over 13.2 handls and under 14.2 hands, to be ridden by a boy or girl under 15:
T. Walker 2. Harness pony, 11.2 hands and under 13 hands, to he shown and driven in harness; D. Collins, Slipepry Tom, 1 and champion. Exhibition trotting competition for ponies 1.3 hands and under,, in saddle, riders not to be over 14: D. Collins, Slippery Tom, 1. Pony jumping compteition, for ponies over 13.1 hands: 1). Collins, Oppossmn 1; D. Collinfs, Nellie 2. The steer-riding championship of New Zealand resulted as follows: W. Payne (Stratford) 1, V. Hopkinson (Eginont Road) 2; E. C. Johnson (Inglewood) 3; W.
