“BEST IN THE WORLD”

DOMINION HOSPITAL SYSTEM HEALTH MINISTER’S VIEW WELLINGTON, Oct. 2. When the annual report of the Health Department was under consideration in the House, Mr M J. Savage renewed his attack on the system of hospital finance, and urged that finance through the Consolidated Fund would be a more equitable method than by local raring, whereby the burden fell mainly on town dwellers. The Hon. A. .1. Stallworth" agreed that the matter was ar. important one. Ho was doing his best to evolve a more equitable method as between town and country dwellers. He penned out, however, that New Zealand was on a sounder footing so far as hospital maintenance was concerned than Britain. New Zealand was on an assured basis, w rcu. as, the English hospitals wore largely dependent on voluntary contributions. In fact, maintenance ct New Zealand hospitals was so assured that we probably lost in the way ot voluntary eo tribntions. For that reason he considered’the Dominion had the best hospital system in the world.
