Mr. and Mrs. J. McCoy, of Gisborne, left this morning after a short visit to Mr. and Mrs. H. Shields. Mrs. J. W. Kelly and her daughter, Miss Mary Kelly, left by the mail train this morning for Wellington. Resolutions of sympathy were passed! at last night’s meeting of the Rugby Union —with. Mr. R. Masters in the loss of hisi sister, and with Mr. S. Nielson in the loss of a niece. Mr. S. G. Hamilton, of the staff of the Fanners’ Co-op, who has resigned to take up an appointment in Auckland, was presented by the staff with a gold pencil as a token of goodwill. Friends in Stratford have been advised) that Nurse GnVnt, formerly Plunket Nurse at Stratford, and who left here for South Africa., has been appointed a. staff nurse in the Royal Eye Hospital, Manchester, England, one of the largest hospitals of the kind in the world.
