MR. NEi B-SON’S REMARKS OBJECTED TO. EI/THAM; This Day. Tu reply to a. resolution passed by the Star (New Plymouth) football club deciding to forward a letter of appreciation to the Opunako Club on ■Wednesday night, congratulating them on their sportsmanlike attitude in requesting the Union to play the senior grade final ait New Plymouth, the committee of the Eltham Club consider that the following letter from the secretary of the Opunako Club dated August 7 should be circulated as widely as possible: “I have been instructed to notify your club that the statement made by Mr. A. F. Neilson at the meeting of The Union in reference to the Eltham ground did not originate from this club, nor that Mr. Neilson had amy authority from usi to make such statements. Wo are perfectly satisfied to play at Eltham and I regret to say that such remarks do not help to create good fellowship between clubs.” . An inspection of the Taumata Park to-day showed that it is in tip-top condition, such a.s any footballer would bo satisfied with.
