CTCIIST BADLY INJURED. MOTORIST ADMITS DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED. WELLINGTON, This Day. In consequence for a collision on the Hutt Road, in which a cyeljist, C. G. Warr, wa s seriously injured, Nathaniel John Reid, salesman, 41, was charged in the Magistrate's Court with .causing bodily injury while driving in a state of intoxication. Medical evidence was that Warr was severely hurt and would) he incapacitated for six months and possibly suffer shortness in the leg which was broken. A witnes s said he saw accused driving erratically and swerve to the wrong side and hit the cyclist. He saw accused after the accident, and considered he was in liquor and unfit to drive. Counsel's version for accused was that the day Avas wet and windy. Some cigarette ash flew in Reid's eye and temporarily blinded him. The car did not belong to him, and he could not get bail. Eventually accused decided to plead guilty rather than wait for three months for trial, and he was committed for sentence.
