A sensational incident, occurred last Evening when following an altercation between a young couple, both lejapt from the 'Alfred Street bridge into the." Omaka river. The pair were first observed quarrelling 100 yards from the bridge. The. young lady attempted, to escape the man's attentions, but he overtook tier ami the argument continued on the bridge which is oil one of the main business thoroughfares. Suddenly the woman climbed onto the handrail of the bridge and lept into the. water, the man following her example.' The, police arrived on the scene, a few moments later and rescued the' pair. The woman was conveyed to the public hospital ivjhilia the man was conveyed to gaol. This morning- «t -the Police Court. William Dalziell Keith (28) plearM not guilty to assaulting Edna KTtto and also to a charge nf. offensive behaviour.
