HUIROA.
Another metal pit has been discovered on Mr. Smaiier's property. This is aj decided acquisition since there are some mud roads in the [vicinity which require metalling. Arrangements have been made for a children's fancy dress ball, which is to take place in the schoolroom on August 9th.
The usual fortnightly euchre party and dance was held on Friday evening last. The winners, for the euclno were, Mrs. H. Bowen and Mr. it. Read, the consolation prizes being won by Miss G. Ford and Mr. W. Biair junr. After supper the room was cleared for dancing, music being supplied by Mrs. J.Reid and extras by Miss P. Stanford, the duty of F.C„ being carried out by Mi*. JL Read. Mr. J. A, Stanford's lorry is seen collecting hobby calves for the Patea Freezing Works, which heralds, the approach of the dairying season.. Miss D. Stanford is on a visit to relatives at Oakura. Mr. and Mrs. It. Wickham are at present holidaying at Auckland. Mrs. White has returned to New Plymouth, after spending a holiday with her daughter, Mrs. Mackayv Mrs. Robert Kemp has returned frbni/A holiday spent with her parents at Feilding. Mrs, White, Cardiff, is visiting Mrs Massey. Miiss P. Wallace is staying with hen- aunt at New Plymouth. Tho sympathy of tho district *s extended to Mrs. A. J.. Stockley on the death of her mother.; Mrs. Ritchie is at present visiting her daughter at Wellington.
