meeting of committee. Mr. J. S. Lyons presided over the meeting of tlie committee of, the Stratford branch of the South Taranaki Automobile Association, held last night. Tlie local branch of the Motor Dealers’ Association notified, in reference to the deputation from the Automobile Association which waited upon them, the the price of first class spirit had been reduced Id per gallon by local dealers as-from July 24th.
It was decided to reply, expressing satisfaction!.
Mr. W. 0. Walkley, secretary of the parent body, wrote stating that it had been decided to include the information! gathered hy the local branch in reference to Morgan’s grave in the Association’s year-book. SIGNS FOR HUIROA. Mr. T. T. Murray wrote on) behalf of Huiroa residents, asking that signs be erected in the district. The secretary was instructed to have the necessary signs erected. The following new members were 1 elcted; Mr. A. W. Budge, M'rs. M. j M. Hancock (Stratford), Mr. E. E. Davis (Tututawa) and Mr.| G. Dine (Eilthani). The secretary reported that complaints had been received that the approaches to Kahouri bridge were not easy to see in the dark. It was decided that the approaches be painted white when weather permits. The matter of supervision of night parking of cars was considered. A letter from the Wanganui As-j sociation stated that in twelve mort thg 8000 cars had taken advantage of its supervised parking area., and in no case had there been a complaint of theft from cars by day or night, though before the officer was put on duty the stand was a favourite haunt of the sneak thief. SUPERVISED PARKING. It was decided that Messrs. Lyons, Carter and David be a deputation to the Borough Council with a view to getting two areas set apart for the purpose in Stratford. The areas suggested are Regan Street, from Broadway to Miranda Street, and a piece of Juliet Street between Regan and Fenton Streets, the latter (portion to be supervised only when there is am attraction at the Town Hall. Mr. (I. A. Carter, who had attended ,a meeting of the! sub-committee at Haiwera in reference to new rules, ■reported om the meeting and was thanked for bis report. Mr. A. H. Gaze reported on the Association’s stand at the Winter Show. The oninion was expressed that the position allotted to the Association was not very favourable, and the hope was voiced that at future Shows the stand would bo given a more prominent place. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Gaze for bis work at the Show. The secretary reported that the transfer badges for the 1929-30 season jhad 'been '.received .and would be distributed to members in due course.
