A scheme to. provide; small farms for miners where! they might work during slack times in the mines was laid before the. Minister of Lands by a deputation a.t Huntly yesterday. An offer of 3200 acres near Rotowa»o mines was. ina.de on behalf of Mr W. J. Ralph who would accept payment by depentures of 4£ per cent. It was stated that miners were now working only five shifts a fortnight. The Minister said if the difficulties of subdividing and providing water could bo overcome %h® matter would he laid before the Land Purchase Board.
