Wiliortl, aimoiuiccd, after reading the evidence taken before the coroner in Auckland relating to ttm death of Elsie Walker, be had decided to ask the Governor-General to appoint Edward Page, S.AL, of Wellington, to ho a commission to inquire. into and report upon the conduct of all or any members of the police force in regard to the '.nuuiries made and tnc steps taken by them concerning the death of Elsie Walker. The inquiry would ho open to the Press, and would commence in Auckland in about three weeks.
