Mr C. McDonald' tba Chairman of the. Northern, Collieries Association stated that unless the crisis in the <x>a.l industry is quickly ended, a num. ber-of Newcastle and Maitland coiUieries would have to dose cfcwm. Tenders are being called by tFije South Australian Government for the- supply of eight hundred tons «of tjoal. The only hope of New South Wales collieries securing the tender was by a substantial! reduction in price.—Australian Press Assn.
