STRANCE ATTEMPT ON LIFE OF SYDNEY GIRL.
HOSE ATTACHED TO GAS METER HOUSE FILLET)' WITH GAS. SYDNEY, Dec..'27. < A remarkable crime was reported by detectives to-day. It was perpetrated in a cottage in Arcadia Street, Coogee, occupied by Morris Levy, an insurance agent, and hi s wife and a groWn-up daughter. Somebody attached the. garden W to the gas-meter and then" placed the other end through the window where Miss Levv : was sleeping. The fumes spread through the home and avvakened Mr/ Levy about A a.m. He hurriedly/opened every window without piking a match and called to his daughter, who was unharmed. The hose was- nob Levy's property. A. man's, footprint was discovered near the daughter's window. ' Levy -declares he has not a solitary e.nemv, and the daughter knows no reason why anyone should desire to take her life.
