Th© iit'tli consecutive bulletin reporting* progress means, in official parlance, that the King has taken another small step forward. liv consequence there is greater optimism at the pahico.
Five doctors consul fed at the palace, at 3.30 p.m. and issued this bulletin:
"We are happy to staite the King's progress is now more firmly established. His strength, breathing, lung and heart are slowly improv-
ing." The consultation took place in order to survey the King's present progress comprehensively and discuss tine lines on which treatment, in the immediate future, shall proceed. —Australian Press Assn. •
GOOD EFFECTS BEINC FELT. (Received 12.30 p.m.; LONDON", Dec. 20. The news of the. past couple of days., so happily confirmed by today's, bulletin that the doctors did not deem it necessary to issue a night bulletin. This had a remarkable effect on the whole, country, in fact we may at hist consider His JVlajesfy is out of immediate danger, and that a slow but steady improvement seems assured. This has come as a veritable tonic on the eve of Christmas festivities and will have far reaching effects. The inevitable complications, as a result of such a dangerous illness, have been felt over the whole of England, and a greater part of Europe. Trade which gener«lly is so brisk at this particular season had reacted to 'the. vantage of big and small traders alike, and thousand of big festivities were on the point of cancellation. The effects' of the good news is discernable on the countenance of- London's crowds yesterday and to-day, and the fact that London i a crammed with eager shoppers is exceedingly cheering proof; of His Majesty's im-provement.-—Australian P.A.
