CALLS FOB ASSISTANCE. WELLINGTON, Last Night. SOS calls were received at 12.50 a.m. from th e s.s. Parera, which Avas hard and fast upon Walker Rock in the vicinity of Jackson’s Beacon, Cook Strait. The vessel was stated to be making no Ava'ter. There Avas no immediate danger, and a
t'ug Ava s not required. At 4.43 a.m. the vessel requested assistance and agents arranged for the tug TereAvhiti to be despatched. At 5.28 a.m. the master reported the vessel Avas afloat and proceeding to Lyttelton, sc th e tug Avas not despatched. At 11.15 a.m., hoAvever, the Parera advised that if the Aveathcr did not moderate she would put into Wellington. I
