DUTCH MARKET
ANGLICAN CHURCH FAIR. The Dutch Market held yesterday at (he Town Hall in aid of the funds of Holy Trinity Church was officially opened at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon by Archdeacon Evans, of New Plymouth, who was briefly introduced 1 y the Vicar, the Rev. J. L. A. Kayll. Archdeacon Evans congratulated the ladies, of the Church on the excellent display made ami commented on the excellent quality of the goods on sale, also expressing thanks for the splendid manner JR which the affair had been organised. The fair was continued in th e even, ing, when there was a fair crowd in attendance, and all perishable goods which were not sold during the evening were sold by auction at the close. Several items were given as follows: Gketch, "All th e WorM's a Links," by Miss Helen Coward and Miss Helen Abraham, fancy dancing by Miss Kitty Harper, and a sketch, "Lucky Jim," by Miss Myra Wilson and Miss Lucy Shields. Competitions were- won as follows; Cake, Mrs Maekay;, box of sweet*, W. J. Cross; handkerchiefs, Miss H. Penn; ham, Mi* Itanry; box of chocolates, Mrs Fralric; fowl. Miss Wilson; dbll, Joan •» Ores well; cushion, Mrs Pprritt; powder puff, Miss H. Shields; dinner waggon, and cloths, Mi's O'Reilly; basket. Miss Shanley. The thanks of the organisers are extended to Mr North, Messrs McKee and Fleming, Messrs Geo. Syme ana Co., and Mr Dixon (caretaker). Before the opening ceremony in the afternoon "£ bouquet was presented to Mrs Evans by little Miss Cora Fredric.
