'car crashes into swamp. COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER BADLY HURT. NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. (Special to Post). . A commercial traveler, aged 50, named John Lord, of Christchurch, was severely injured when , one of Fowler’s service cars somersaulted over a' bank, into a swamp near the Mangorei Dairy Factory last night. He was badly hurt about the head and! back and was removed to the New Plymouth Hospital, where his condition is critical.

r ; It is stated that the car lights fused, and tho driver was unable to keep on tho road in the darkness. Mr. Fowler was in charge of the, vehicle. j

The passengers had a miraculous escape from death, the car being smashed bo pieces, and several parts scattered amongst the fern and blackberry.

Mr. Fowler is thought to have sustained some internal injuries while %r. W. T. Wells,■ of Manaia, received minor injuries to his head. It is understood that three ladies were amongst the pasengers and that ■' one had a child in her arms. All, however, escaped unhurt.
