J SUGGESTED PROGRAMME. . following letter, (addressed to the Mayor, from Captain Boyle, Military secretary of Hi s Excellency the Governor-General was read at last night s meeting of the Borough Council: I am desired by the Govei nor-General to write to you and say that l Their Excellencies will be visiting tlie Taranaki district during next month, and, if ft is hot inconvenient to Tour Worship, they, would very much like to visit Stratford on Wednesday, June 13tih. The hour of their arrival at Stratford has not yet been definitely fixed, but it would be some 'time in the forenoon. Their Excellencies would like to take advantage of the opportunity to meet as many of the local residents as possible, and would also be very glad to look over any of local institutions which you might cure to show them,.; “I should be much obliged if you could let me have any suggestions you may wish to make in connection; with the proposed visit so that I may , place them before the Governor-General. They would prefer the evening kept free. I am to add that their Excellencies make a point of declining invitations to functions, such as luncheons and dinners, which involve extra expense to the ratepayers. The decorations used for the soldiers’ re-iinion could be left up for the ViceRe'jjil visit.
